Air Force Station Pune Conducts Media Orientation Capsule Course

Pune, 20th October 2023: In its endeavor to enhance Media Outreach, mutual understanding and strengthen future collaborations, Air Force Station Lohegaon under the South Western Air Command of Indian Air Force (IAF) today conducted a Media Orientation Capsule for the media personnel of Pune. It was an effort towards IAF’s commitment to foster cohesiveness and enhancing communication with media.

The event took place in coordination with Regional Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) and witnessed good participation from members of the print and electronic media fraternity of different media houses.

The programme commenced with an elucidation of the objectives of the media orientation capsule by Station PR0. The keynote address was delivered by Air Commodore Shekhar Yadav, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Lohegaon. He applauded the media personnel for their exceptional service to the nation and their unwavering commitment to the greater good of society. He emphasized on the crucial role they play in disseminating information to the public.

The Air Commodore urged media to serve as a force multiplier in projecting the relentless efforts of Armed Forces across various dimensions of nation building. He underlined the need for a collaborative approach to ensure accurate and timely information sharing with countrymen.

Detailed presentations on various topics such as different facets of lAF, Air Operations, Air Defence Operations, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief, as well as the organizational framework of the Air Force were given.

The capsule exposed media personnel to basic flying aspects, functioning of flying simulators along with a comprehensive flying brief. The media personnel also witnessed the flying operations by fighter aircraft besides a static display. They also interacted with personnel from various branches and streams and were given a firsthand account of the overall functioning of an Air Base.
