Air India Cuts 5% of Narrow-Body Flights; Pune Faces Five Flight Cancellations
Pune, 24th June 2025: Air India has announced a 5% reduction in its narrow-body aircraft operations, a decision that will impact Pune with the cancellation of five flights, including the suspension of its international service to Singapore.
The airline’s move follows a recent accident involving an Air India aircraft in Ahmedabad, which raised concerns over the safety of its fleet. In response, Air India initially grounded all Boeing 787 aircraft used for long-haul international travel and reduced wide-body aircraft operations by 15%.
The new 5% cut in narrow-body aircraft flights, which primarily serve domestic routes, is now affecting cities like Pune. The changes are expected to remain in effect until mid-July, as part of a broader reassessment of flight operations.
As a result:
The Pune-Singapore international route has been suspended.
The frequency of the Delhi-Pune route has been reduced from 59 to 54 weekly flights.
Air India has assured that passengers affected during this period will either be rebooked on alternate flights or receive full refunds.
While the airline says the move is temporary and driven by safety and operational reviews, the reduction has sparked concern among frequent flyers and business travelers from Pune, who heavily rely on Air India’s domestic and international connectivity.
