Air India Flight Crashes During Take-Off in Ahmedabad, 242 On Board; Fire Teams on Site

Ahmedabad, 12th June 2025: A major aviation disaster struck Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday when an Air India flight bound for London crashed during take-off, with 242 passengers on board. The incident has sent shockwaves through the city and triggered an urgent emergency response.

According to preliminary information shared by news agency ANI, the aircraft crashed in the Meghani Nagar area, a densely populated residential locality near the airport. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the crash site, visible from several kilometres away.

Officials from the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services Department confirmed that more than five fire tenders were rushed to the spot shortly after the crash. Initial reports suggest the incident occurred during routine departure procedures.

Emergency response teams from the airport, operated by the Adani Group, and local authorities coordinated immediate rescue efforts.

At the time of filing this report, there was no official confirmation on casualties or the condition of the passengers and crew.
