Air India Temporarily Suspends and Reduces International Flights Until July 15 Amid Safety Checks and Airspace Issues

New Delhi, 19th June 2025: Air India has announced a temporary reduction in its international flight operations involving Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft, effective from 21 June 2025 until at least 15 July 2025, citing enhanced safety protocols and airspace restrictions in the Middle East.
The airline stated that the move is aimed at maintaining schedule stability and minimizing last-minute inconvenience for passengers, while also voluntarily conducting pre-flight safety checks on its wide-body fleet.
“These temporary reductions are a proactive measure to ensure continued safety and reliability of our operations. We are working to restore the full schedule at the earliest,” Air India said in a statement released on Wednesday.
Flights Temporarily Suspended Until 15 July:
- Delhi–Nairobi (AI961/962): 4x weekly flights (suspended only until 30 June)
- Amritsar–London Gatwick (AI169/170): 3x weekly flights
- Goa (Mopa)–London Gatwick (AI145/146): 3x weekly flights
Routes with Reduced Frequency Until 15 July:
North America:
- Delhi–Toronto: 13x to 7x weekly
- Delhi–Vancouver: 7x to 5x weekly
- Delhi–San Francisco: 10x to 7x weekly
- Delhi–Chicago: 7x to 3x weekly
- Delhi–Washington D.C. (Dulles): 5x to 3x weekly
Europe:
- Delhi–London (Heathrow): 24x to 22x weekly
- Bengaluru–London (Heathrow): 7x to 6x weekly
- Amritsar/Delhi–Birmingham: 3x to 2x weekly
- Delhi–Paris: 14x to 12x weekly
- Delhi–Milan: 7x to 4x weekly
- Delhi–Copenhagen: 5x to 3x weekly
- Delhi–Vienna: 4x to 3x weekly
- Delhi–Amsterdam: 7x to 5x weekly
Australia:
- Delhi–Melbourne/Sydney: 7x to 5x weekly
Far-East:
- Delhi–Tokyo (Haneda): 7x to 6x weekly
- Delhi–Seoul (Incheon):
- 3x weekly from 21 June to 5 July
- 4x weekly from 6 July to 15 July
Passenger Assistance and Options
Air India has apologised for the inconvenience caused and confirmed it is reaching out to all affected passengers. Travellers will be offered rebooking on alternate flights, complimentary rescheduling, or full refunds, depending on individual preference.
The updated flight schedules are being progressively published on airindia.com, the Air India mobile app, and made available via the Air India contact centre.
“Passenger, crew, and aircraft safety remains our top priority. We are committed to returning to our full schedule as quickly as operationally feasible,” the airline added.
