Ajit Pawar Campaigns in Pune’s Ward 4, Flags Water Scarcity and Traffic Woes
Pune, 12th January 2026: As campaigning for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections reached its final stretch, senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar held a series of interactions with voters, party workers and candidates in Ward No. 4, focusing on long-pending civic issues in the area.
Speaking to residents, Pawar said that basic amenities such as drinking water, roads and traffic management continue to trouble citizens despite regular payment of municipal taxes. “People are paying their taxes honestly, yet many families are still dependent on water tankers. This situation is unacceptable and needs immediate correction,” he said, adding that resolving water scarcity would remain a priority for the NCP if voted to power.
Referring to the Nagar Road–Kharadi–Wagholi corridor, Pawar pointed out that rapid urbanisation without matching infrastructure planning has worsened traffic congestion. “Traffic problems cannot be solved overnight, but with scientific planning, flyovers, road widening and disciplined enforcement, long-term solutions are possible,” he stated.
Pawar also spoke against the alleged water tanker mafia, assuring citizens of firm action. “There should be no scope for illegal businesses to thrive at the cost of citizens’ basic needs. Any such practices will be dealt with strictly,” he said.
Highlighting the party’s candidates from Ward 4, Pawar said they bring together experience and new leadership. “These candidates have a clean image and the capacity to deliver. What Ward 4 needs is honest representation that focuses on development, not empty promises,” he remarked.
Appealing to voters ahead of polling on January 15, Pawar urged citizens to exercise their democratic right. “Your vote will decide the future of your neighbourhood. Come out in large numbers and support candidates who are committed to improving everyday civic life,” he said.
The NCP leader’s visit is part of the party’s final push to consolidate support in key wards as the city prepares for polling.
