Baramati, 22nd April 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has publicly raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the death of her husband, former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar, and has demanded a detailed and impartial investigation into the incident.

Speaking during a public address linked to the Baramati by-election campaign, Sunetra Pawar said several unanswered questions continue to trouble both her and the public regarding the fatal accident. She stressed that the truth behind the incident must be established and that those responsible, if any wrongdoing is found, should face strict action.

Ajit Pawar, a senior political leader, died in a plane crash in January 2026 in Baramati—an incident that sent shockwaves across Maharashtra’s political landscape. Since then, multiple political leaders and party members have called for a transparent investigation, citing concerns over possible lapses or foul play.

In her speech, Sunetra Pawar also said she has taken up the matter with senior leaders at both the state and central levels. She expressed confidence that the government machinery is cooperating and assured that efforts to seek clarity would continue. At the same time, she made an emotional appeal, referring to the personal loss and the difficulty of coming to terms with the tragedy.

The issue has gained political prominence amid the ongoing Baramati by-election, with parties using the incident to underline demands for accountability and transparency. Calls for a probe have also been echoed by several leaders across party lines, reinforcing the need for a comprehensive inquiry into the crash.
