Ajit Pawar Says Pune Land Deal Cancelled, BJP’s Bawankule Says FIR Against Only Those ‘Directly’ Involved

Pune, 7th November 2025: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has broken his silence over the allegations surrounding his son, Parth Pawar, in connection with the registration of 40 acres of government land in Pune’s Mundhwa area, reportedly valued at around ₹1800 crore. The controversy involves claims that stamp duty was reduced during the registration process.
Clarifying his stand, Ajit Pawar said he had no knowledge of the land deal and that he has always operated within the framework of law. “In my 35 years of political life, I have never done anything outside the rules. Even in 2009–10, a white paper was issued regarding the allegations made against me, and nothing was found to be true,” Pawar told reporters.
He stated that he had immediately spoken to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the phone to ensure proper action is taken. “I have asked the Chief Minister to take action as per the rules. If anyone in my family is guilty, I will not forgive them. However, there has been no monetary transaction in this case, even though large figures are being circulated,” he said.
Pawar added that the land transaction in question has already been cancelled. “I was informed in the evening that the registration documents related to this deal have been revoked. The entire transaction has been annulled. A committee headed by the Additional Chief Secretary has been formed, and its report will be submitted within a month,” he said.
Reiterating his commitment to transparency, Pawar urged officials not to yield to any pressure, regardless of the people involved. “As the Deputy Chief Minister, I tell all officers — if any case comes before you that does not comply with the rules, even if it involves someone close to me, do not act under any pressure. I don’t appreciate anyone misusing my name,” he said.
Pawar also mentioned that certain irregularities have recently come to light in Baramati and should be probed thoroughly. “It is not my nature to bypass the rules. There has not been any financial exchange in this case. Why and how the registration took place — all of that will be investigated. FIRs have already been filed at two police stations. There will be no political interference, and the probe should be completely transparent,” he added.
When asked why no FIR has been registered against his son Parth Pawar, Ajit Pawar responded, “Whether someone was cheated, whether anyone acted under someone’s instructions, or if any official was pressured — all these aspects will be part of the investigation. I checked with my office, and no one from the Deputy Chief Minister’s office exerted any influence in this matter.”
He further pointed out that BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who is the revenue minister responsible for land, had already clarified that cases were filed only against those directly involved in the registration process and whose signatures appeared on the documents.
