Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 Dominates Day 2 With A Whopping 50% Jump In Box Office Collections
Mumbai, 13th August 2023: OMG 2 Box Office Collection Surges by Nearly 50% on Day 2: The second day at the box office for Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 witnessed a remarkable surge of almost 50%. The film, which boasts an ensemble cast including Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, reportedly amassed a substantial Rs 14 crores in its second day’s run. However, the journey for OMG 2 is not without its challenges, contending not only with competition from Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 but also grappling with the constraint of an ‘Adults Only’ certification.
According to insights from trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film’s Day 2 collections soared to Rs 15.30 crore, propelling the cumulative Indian earnings to approximately Rs 25.65 crore. The driving force behind this surge in box office revenue appears to be the overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth buzz. With the impending Independence Day break, anticipation is ripe regarding the potential for further collection spikes.
OMG 2 serves as the sequel to Akshay Kumar’s 2012 hit “OMG.” In this instalment, the actor embodies the role of a messenger of Lord Shiva. The filmmaking process was not without its challenges, as the Censor Board placed the film on hold, demanding around 27 modifications. Post these revisions, OMG 2 was ultimately bestowed with an ‘Adults Only (A)’ classification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Beyond Akshay Kumar’s involvement, the movie stars Pankaj Tripathi, alongside Yami Gautam who assumes the role of a lawyer. The recently released trailer divulged that the film’s thematic focus revolves around sex education.
