All India Urdu Mushaira strucks a chord with Puneites
Swargate : The Deccan Muslim Institute (DMI), Pune in association with Awami Mahaz, Pune and the Pune Festival Committee 2015 took lead in hosting the All India Mushaira held on 22nd September at the Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch, Swargate, Pune. The Mushaira was held in the backdrop of the centennial celebrations of the DMI.
The Mushaira, an immensely popular and unique cultural event of the annual Pune Festival drew an enthusiastic crowd of Urdu poetry lovers not only from Pune but from different parts of the State. Eminent poets like Popular Meerthi, Dr. Kalim Qaiser, Shams Ramzi, Sagar Tripathi and a host of other well-known poets participated in the Mushaira and held the audience spellbound with their shayari ( couplet recitation ). The Aligarh Muslim University’s Vice-Chancellor, Lt. Gen (Retd) Zameeruddin Shah PVSM, SM, VSM graced the function as Chief Guest. A large number of the city’s literati and glitterati added glamour to the occasion.
Mrs. Abeda P Inamdar, President of Deccan Muslim institute Pune and Co-Convener of the Mushaira, along with Suresh kalmadi (Ex. M.P.) President the Pune Festival Committee 2015 and noted educationist . P. A. Inamdar (President Awami Mahaz Pune) presented two trophies on behalf of the Deccan Muslim Institute, Pune. The first trophy christened as the “Late Khan Saheb Adv. Abdul Qadeer Abdul Azeez Khan Award” was presented to the Management of the Sarosh Education and Welfare Society, Aurangabad for their contribution to National Integration, Peace and Harmony. The trophy was received by Mr. Moinuddin, President Sarosh Education and Welfare Society, Aurangabad.
The second one entitled as the “Late Haji Abdul Hakeem Qureshi Award” was presented to the Youth Education and Welfare Society, Nasik, for “Awakening Society through Education and Social Service”. The trophy was received by Pathan Nasir Abdul Razzak , President Youth Education and Welfare Society, Nasik.These Awards were constituted in memory of the aforementioned Past DMI Presidents are a salute to their services, dedication, devotion and commitment in the field of education and championing the cause of humanity. Former Member of Parliament Suresh Kalmadi described the Mushaira as landmark event in the annals of Pune City while Mr PA Inamdar maintained that the event stood for the cause of national integration and universal brotherhood.
