New Delhi, 4th April 2025: The latest tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump on Chinese imports are set to impact Apple significantly, with experts predicting a rise in iPhone prices by $50 to $150 for high-end models.

The cumulative tariff hike on goods from China targets consumer electronics like iPhones, MacBooks, and AirPods, raising fears of reduced demand and profitability for the tech giant. This move could lead to a substantial increase in the cost of Apple products, affecting both consumers and the company’s bottom line.

Apple manufactures most of its products in China, and the new tariffs could lead to a 10% price increase across its lineup. Analysts estimate that iPhone sales may drop by 8–10 million units globally due to higher prices.

Apple’s stock has already taken a hit, losing significant value following Trump’s announcement. The impact is not limited to Apple; other tech companies relying on Chinese manufacturing are also bracing for potential losses.

Stephan Shipe, CEO of Scholar Financial Advising, explained, “Apple has traditionally absorbed tariff impacts, but this time it may pass costs to consumers.” Retail giants like Target and Best Buy have also warned customers about price hikes across electronics due to the tariffs. This shift could alter consumer behavior, with some opting for cheaper alternatives or delaying purchases.

The tariff hike comes at a critical time for Apple, as its iPhone sales recently dipped below half of its total revenue for the first time in seven years. Experts believe this could further strain Apple’s market position and profitability. Apple has been exploring options to diversify its manufacturing base, but such changes take time and significant investment.

According to Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, “We are committed to making the best products for our customers, but we also have to navigate the global economic landscape.” Cook has emphasized the need for stable trade policies to support innovation and growth in the tech sector.

As the global economy continues to face challenges from trade tensions, companies like Apple must adapt quickly to maintain their competitive edge. The rise in iPhone prices could be a turning point, influencing consumer preferences and potentially reshaping the smartphone market.
