Application deadline for Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Scholarship extended till January 31

Pune, January 15, 2021: The deadline for the application for the national level, ‘Dr. A. P. J. Kalam Young Research Fellowship’ offered by the TERRE Policy Centre has been extended and students will be able to fill online application for this scholarship till January 31, 2021. The scholarship is offered in order to pay tribute to the work of Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam and to encourage young, budding researchers to nurture the creativity of the youth. This was informed by Dr. Vinita Apte, Founder President of the institute.

This is the 4th year of the scholarship and the deadline to apply usually is three months after Dr. Kalam’s birthday, which falls on October 16. The deadline, which earlier was January 15 has been extended till January 31 for the youth in the age group of 18 to 25 to apply.

Dr. Apte said that till date about 400 applications have been received by the organization and with the extension the numbers are expected to increase, and more youth will be able to take advantage of it.

“Dr. Kalam is everyone’s favourite. Emerging researchers or college students have the urge o try new things in their fields but due to lack the financial support, they lag behind. We initiated this scholarship named after Dr. Kalam to help and inspire young people who are committed to the field of research,” said Dr. Apte.

The applications will be examined and presented in April and interviews with the jury will be held in May, after which the results of the same will be announced in June. Accordingly, best 5 students will be awarded Rs. 25,000 and a certificate by the jury which will consist of Ashok Mangotra,
Former Joint Secretary in the Office of the President, Satish Kulkarni, Former Counsellor for Science, Technology, Environment and Health Affairs at the Embassy of the USA, New Delhi and Anil Arora (Retd.) from UNDP.
