Maharashtra Postal Circle To Issue Special Cancellation Stamps To Recognize The Contribution Of Serum Institute In Developing Covid-19 Vaccine

Pune, January 15, 2021: The covid-19 vaccine will be administered to all frontline workers all over India from 16 January. To commemorate the event and to recognize the contribution of Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) in developing the corona vaccine, Maharashtra Postal Circle will issue a Special Pictorial Cancellation Stamp through Hadapsar Post-Office Pune- 411028.

Postal Articles booked in Hadapsar Post Office will be date stamped with these Special Cancellation Stamps.

Two Vaccines have received the approval of the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) – COVAXIN by Bharat Biotech and CoviShield by SII. 3 Dry runs have been conducted so far all over the nation. The vaccination drive is set to begin on 16 January.

The vaccination will be first administered to the frontline workers all over the country. The vaccinations are deemed safe with minor and common side effects like fever, allergy etc.
