Pune, 1st May 2023: The magical strains of music, the captivating voice of the legendary musician, AR Rahman, filled the air at Raja Bahadur Mill area of Pune on a balmy Sunday evening. The audience was mesmerized by the maestro’s performance, swaying to the rhythm of his melodies, lost in a world of blissful euphony.

However, as the clock ticked past 10 pm, the mood of the evening was to be disrupted by an unexpected guest – the Pune City Police. A somber hush descended on the crowd as the uniformed officers made their way to the stage, their expressions stern and determined.

AR Rahman, the heart and soul of the evening, stood before the police, a picture of poise and grace. But even his towering persona could not sway the iron will of the law enforcement officials. The program had to be stopped, the police announced, in no uncertain terms.

The legendary musician’s program, which had enthralled the audience with its breathtaking performance, had exceeded its allotted time. The police, with their resolute gaze, admonished Rahman for violating the court’s order prohibiting any event from taking place after 10 pm.

The incident, captured on camera, has since gone viral on social media. The video shows the police intervening and instructing Rahman to end the show, which he did with grace and dignity, without any controversy.

Senior Police Inspector Santosh Patil, in-charge of Bundgarden police station, said, “The show was going on beyond 10 pm deadline set by the Supreme Court. I tried to contact the organizers but they were not responding. Therefore, I had to intervene. I did my duty.”
