Army Medical Corps Celebrates 260th Anniversary with Energetic Walkathon and Cyclothon in Pune

Pune, 29th March 2024: Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune organized a Walkathon and Cyclothon on March 29, 2024, as part of ongoing celebrations commemorating the 260th Anniversary (Raising Day) of the Army Medical Corps, which celebrates its Raising Day annually on April 3rd.

The event was flagged off by Lt Gen Ajai Kumar Singh, GOC-in-C Southern Command. Also present were Lt Gen Narendra Kotwal, Director and Commandant, AFMC; Maj Gen Vijay V Joshi, VSM, MG (Med), Southern Command; Maj Gen PK Sharma, Commandant, AICTS; Maj Gen Giriraj Singh, Dean & Deputy Commandant, AFMC; Maj Gen B Nambiar, Commandant, Command Hospital (Southern Command), Pune, and Commandants of other Armed Forces Medical Services units in Pune Kirkee complex. Additionally, senior serving and retired dignitaries of the AFMS attended.

Over 700 individuals, including serving officers, veterans, their families, medical and nursing cadets, actively participated in the event. The GOC-in-C congratulated the AFMS fraternity for their illustrious history of serving the armed forces and the nation, encouraging all present to embrace sports, physical fitness, and exercise as essential components of holistic well-being.
