Pune, 28 March 2024: Under the supervision of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Manoj Rana, the Gurugram District Court ordered the filing of a complaint on Big Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav for allegedly using foreign snakes during the recording of a 32-bore song. This development comes after petitioner Saurabh Gupta’s demand for case registration last November.

Saurabh Gupta, the petitioner, sought action under the Wildlife Protection Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The matter was initially handled by Judicial Magistrate Pragati Rana and then moved to the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Manoj Rana.

During the hearing on Thursday, Gupta argued that the permission granted for the song shoot did not include the use of snakes from other countries. Moreover, the actual shooting took place in a building that was still under construction, despite permission to shoot at a school.

The court instructed the Badshahpur Thana police to file a case in compliance with the relevant legislation after hearing Gupta’s arguments. On April 10, the day of the case hearing, the police are required to submit a compliance report to the court.

The ruling raises concerns about how animal welfare laws are applied and raises doubt on the practicality of using exotic animals in entertainment endeavours.

Elvish Yadav’s legal troubles bring to light the morality of using animals for entertainment as well as the challenges in conserving wildlife.
As the case progresses, it remains to be seen how the legal system addresses these issues and ensures justice is served.
