Army Officer Duped of Rs 37 Lakh in Konkan Land Scam; Case Registered in Pune

Yerwada, 3rd December 2024: A case involving the alleged cheating of an army officer out of ₹37 lakh under the pretext of purchasing land in the Konkan region has been registered by the Yerwada police station, Pune City Police. The accused in the case is also an army officer.

The Lieutenant Colonel rank officer, currently posted in Odisha and residing in Vadgaon Budruk, Sinhagad Road, filed a complaint against another Lieutenant Colonel rank officer, a resident of Charholi.

According to the complaint, they got acquainted during his posting at the Bombay Sappers in Khadki between 2015 and 2018. The accused officer reportedly assured the complainant that he could help him purchase land in Konkan. Trusting his colleague, the complainant transferred ₹37 lakh to accused’s bank account for the transaction. However, the accused officer neither facilitated the purchase of the promised land nor refunded the money despite repeated requests.

Feeling defrauded, the complainant approached the Yerwada police station with a formal complaint. The case is being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Gauri Jhore.
