Pune, 4th September 2022: Pakistan defeated India on 4th September 2022 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the Super-Four match 2 of the Asia Cup by 5 Wickets. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Mohammed Rizwan was the highest scorer of the match. He scored 71 runs off just 51 deliveries Shadab Khan was the player with the highest number of wickets. Mohammad Nawaz was the man of the match. India scored 181/7 in 20 overs losing to Pakistan who scored 182/5 in 19.5 overs. This is the first time India has lost to Pakistan in the Asia cup.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded 19 runs in the 19th over which was very costly for team India. The dropped catch of Asif Ali proved to be decisive as he went on rampage mode in the second last over of the game. India was penalized for a slow over rate. Due to this, they had to keep an extra fielder in the ring for the final over.

Mohammad Rizwan said, “The whole world is watching this match. This game is as valuable as a final. Every player will try to give his 100%. The plan, as always, was to score against the new ball with one of us (himself and Babar Azam) batting long. I tried to stay till the end. We know our strengths, we have depth in our batting, and we have power-hitters who are capable of hitting around 45 runs off the last four overs. So we didn’t panic.”

India faces Sri Lanka on the 6th of September 2022 followed by Afghanistan on the 8th of September 2022. Both the games are a must-win for India so that they stand a chance of qualifying for the finals of Asia Cup 2022.
