Australia Defeats India In First T-20 Match Of Series

Australia defeated India, on 20th September 2022, at IS Bindra Stadium in the first match of the Australia tour of India by four wickets. Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. India posted a target of 208 runs at the loss of 6 wickets. Australia smashed three consecutive high-scoring overs in the end. Hardik Pandya was the top-scorer of the match with 71 runs in 30 balls. Axar Patel and Nathan Ellis were the highest wicket-takers of the game. The man-of-the-match was Cameron Green for his knock of 61 runs in 30 balls. He scored at a strike rate of 203.3. Cameron hit eight boundaries and four maximums.

From India, the top performers were Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and KL Rahul. India trapped Australia with 55 runs needed in four overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave out 15 runs in the 17th over. The carnage did not stop as Harshal Patel was hit for 22 runs in the following over.

There were still 18 runs required to defend in the last two overs. Another costly over by Harshal Patel snatched the game from team India. He gave out 16 runs after being hit for three consecutive boundaries leaving the Aussies with just two runs to win. Cameron Green played a brilliant knock of 61 runs in 30 balls. Mathew Wade provided the finishing touch with his 45 of 21, which ensured Australia’s victory.
