Awareness Drive Leads To Increase In Reporting Of Child Marriage Complaints In Pune District: Ayush Prasad

Pune, 29th July 2022: It has been noted by the Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP) that the public awareness efforts to prevent child marriage are getting success and the number of child marriage complaints has increased in the district. In 2021, a total of 28 cases were reported while this year till now 28 cases have been reported through Childline (1098).

To prevent child marriage, first of all, it is necessary to report it. But often citizens tend to ignore this. Keeping this matter in mind, Pune Zilla Parishad held meetings of Gram Panchayats at various places in the district and created public awareness about it. This has seen a positive result and the district council has informed that there has been an increase in the number of child marriage complaints in the district.

 

Pune City Police, Pune Rural Police and Pimpri Chinchwad Police received special support for this. In future, the ZP will encourage Asha and Anganwadi workers to work with various communities to prevent child marriage.

 

Ayush Prasad, Chief Executive Officer of the ZP, informed that necessary instructions have been given to the police stations to take appropriate preventive action to prevent child marriage and female foeticide.

Indapur, Shirur, Lonavala, Nighoj Parner, Khed, Mulshi, Lonavala, Maval, Urli Kanchan, Manjari, Shivane, Talegaon Dabhadenagar, Talegaon- Maval, Junnar, Alandi Devachi, Supe, Purandar, Daund, Baramati, Hadapsar, Kondhwa.
