‘Azadi ka Amritmahotsav’ celebrated In Boston, USA

Boston/Pune, 18th August 2022: On the backdrop of grand celebrations of ‘Azadi ka Amritmahotsav’ throughout the country, a great program was organized in Boston, USA. Spontaneous participation from the NRIs turned this grand ceremony into an enchanting treat. Albani Dhol Tasha Pathak (Albani, New York) and Sankalp Marathi Mandal, Boston organized this series of programs on the occasion of Azadi ka Amritmahotsav.

 

A plane carrying a 220 feet long US-Indian flag, unfurling at Boston Harbor, and a procession along with traditional instruments and floats representing the diversity of India were the events covered in this ceremony. On this occasion, citizens from 32 countries participated in the event organized at the Christopher Columbus Park, Boston (Massachusetts, USA). Floats loaded with messages of patriotism, exhibition and dance were the attractions of this event.

 

Out of a total of 15 floats, one was representing Maharashtra. Every float presented the diversity of various states. The participants depicted great historical personalities, freedom fighters, Vitthal-Rukmini, Warkari, and traditional attire. Maharashtrian families and students participated in the float representing Maharashtra. This float depicted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Rajmata Jijabai, and his colleagues known as ‘Mavala’.

 

The whole credit for this event goes to the team of 150 persons owned by Albani Dhol Taasha Pathak, Albani, New York, and Sankalp Marathi Mandal, Boston. These organizations are striving hard to conserve the Maharashtrian culture and tradition in North America.

 

Albani Dhol Tasha Pathak celebrates Marathi festivals for the last 12 years in American cities like New York and Boston. It includes many festivals exhibiting Marathi culture like Shiv Jayanti, Ganesh Utsav, Diwali Pahat along with Maharashtra Day. To bring the Marathi community together is the soul motto behind these activities undertaken by the Pathak, said the Founder-President Kalyan Ghule.

 

He further said, ‘Ek Sankalp Marathi Japnyacha’, which means a grand will to conserve Marathi, is the tagline of Albani Dhol Tasha Pathak. Chhatrapati Shivaji was the greatest king we had in human history. An opportunity to salute the contribution of this world-famous king through a grand procession is nothing less than a medal for us. We feel admired to conserve the cultural heritage of Maharashtra abroad.
