Azim Premji University announces admissions for Dual Degree Undergraduate Programme (B.Sc. B.Ed.)
Bengaluru, April 11, 2018: Azim Premji University announces admissions to its new 4-year dual degree programme that awards a B.Sc.B.Ed. Degree. The 4-year B.Sc.B.Ed. programme aims to develop professionals with deep disciplinary knowledge of the sciences and a profound understanding of the theory and practice of education.
The programme consists of a Common Curriculum, Disciplinary Courses (Life Sciences or Physical Sciences), Education Courses and Field Practice. The Common Curriculum has courses in critical reading, reasoning, advanced writing and understanding India. In the Disciplinary Courses, students can choose either Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). The Education Courses focus on developing perspectives on education from a variety of disciplines and skills to teach effectively through courses in curriculum and pedagogy. Field practice consists of practicums and internships covering the diverse school contexts in India and a semester-long apprenticeship. Faculty members come with a mix of teaching, research and field experience and follow innovative teaching/learning methods that bring out the best in students.
The University has an explicit commitment towards supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds, based on parental education, income, caste, gender, etc. The University provides extensive financial assistance to deserving students through full and partial scholarships covering tuition fees, accommodation and food charges. The final year tuition fee is waived for all the students enrolling in the 4-year dual degree programme.

Admission process and dates: Students can apply online on the University website. Applicants will be selected based on a written test and personal interview for shortlisted students. Applications for admissions close on 30thApril 2018, followed by an entrance test on 13thMay 2018, interviews end of May and offer of admission in June 2018. The academic session starts in July 2018.
