New Delhi, December 24, 2020: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took a major decision at the annual meeting in Ahmedabad today. The Indian Premier League (IPL) of the year 2022 will have 10 teams instead of 8. Eventually, 10 teams were approved to participate in this cricket’s most popular T20 tournament.

All officials including BCCI President Sourav Ganguly were present in this meeting. Several important issues are being discussed in the meeting, in which the issue of increasing the number of teams in the most important IPL was discussed.

Before the meeting, it was revealed that this IPL of 10 teams will be allowed for only one edition. At the moment nothing has been revealed about this. The meeting also agreed that the BCCI would support the International Cricket Council (ICC) to include cricket in the 2028 Olympics.

BCCI will support the inclusion of cricket in the T20 format in the Olympics to be held in the US in 2028. Along with the ICC, the BCCI has also come out in favour of cricket being played in the Olympics. Significantly, before this, India did not support this decision of ICC.
