Bhamidipathy , Zeel knocked out of 22nd edition of NECC Deccan ITF 50K Women’s Tennis Tournament

Pune, January 25 2024: Indian players Shrivalli Bhamidipathy and Zeel Desai were felled and went down tamely in the singles second round at the 22nd edition of NECC Deccan ITF W50 Women’s Tennis Tournament being organized by Deccan Gymkhana and sponsored by National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) under the auspices of the ITF, AITA and MSLTA and played at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts

In the second round second seeded Anastasia Tikhonova of Russia ranked 151 outpaced Wildcard entrant Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty 6-1, 6-2 in 1 hour and 16 minute match.

Yesterday’s Giant killer Zeel Desai was knocked out by former US Open Junior Champion and fifth seed Alexandra Eala of Philippines 6-1,6-2 in just over an hour. Eala will now meet the top seed Darja Semenistaja of Latvia.

In a upset of the day unseeded Tina Nadine Smith of Australia upset eighth seeded Tatiana Prozorova 6-3, 7-5 while Slovak
Salil’s Jakupovic led 6-4 over fourth seeded Himeno Sakatsume of Japan who retired midway through the match.

Third seeded Indian pair of Rutuja Bhosale and Ankita Raina were troubled and came down from 3-6 ,0-3 to register a comeback win over young Indian pair of Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty and Vaidehi Chaudhari before winning 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 and moving to the semi finals.

In a upset Japanese pair of Saki Imamura and Naho Sato upset second Sapfo Sakellaridi of Greece and Prarthana G Thombare 6-4,6-2 to enter the semis
