New Delhi, September 25, 2020: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, the father of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers today. Prime Minister (PM) Modi said that during the Coronavirus pandemic, party workers served people, some were infected with COVID19 and some even lost their lives.

In his speech, PM Modi once again targeted the opposition on the farm bills. He said that in the past, our government has taken historical decisions for the youth and farmers. The PM said that the less the government intervenes in people’s lives, the better it will be. Till many years after independence, many slogans were raised in the name of farmers, but their slogans were hollow.

PM Modi said that small farmers will benefit the most from the farm bills. He said that now it is the will of the farmer that he can sell the crop anywhere, where the farmer will get a higher price, he will be able to sell there. BJP workers will have to convince the farmers in easy language. PM Modi said that those who lied to the farmers, now they are carrying a gun on the shoulder of the farmers. These people are tricking the farmer by spreading lies.

Some people put the interest of themselves as paramount rather than national interest. The farmers were kept entangled in the laws, due to which they could not sell their crops anywhere. PM said that “we increased the record in minimum support price (MSP). So far more than one lakh crore rupees have been given to the farmers. The UPA government had given loans of only 20 lakh crores to farmers, but our government gave loans of more than 35 lakh crores.”

PM Modi said that like farmers, labourers were also cheated for years and he said that now work has been done for the health of the labourers going from one state to another. The time of daily wage has been fixed. There is also a point of pension in the new law. Also, there is an effort to bring the minimum wage to a level. The PM said that now women labourers will also get an equal wage.

PM said that party workers in different parts of the country were engaged in the service of the people day and night. Deendayalji had spoken out loudly on India’s national policy, economics. When the emphasis was on adopting foreign models for the creation of independent India, Deendayal ji spoke of India’s model at that time.

The PM said that BJP workers should also emphasize on local products, vocal for local is necessary. BJP workers should call meetings in every part of the country and tell about education policy.

Countrywide farmer protests against these anti-farmer bills are being held today by over 350 farmers organisations under the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC).

According to Kisan Sabha, the farm bills are aimed at promoting corporatisation of agriculture, facilitating the integration of Indian agriculture with the global market and undermining the procurement/MSP mechanism which will lead to the erosion of food security. Amendment to Essential Commodities Act removes cereals, pulses, edible oils, onions & potatoes from the list of essential commodities & stock holding limits. The scope for large scale hoarding creating artificial food scarcity & price rise threatens our people.

They say that the three Bills – Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020; The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce Bill, 2020; and The Farmers Agreement on Prices Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 – will destroy Indian agricultural sectors and Indian farmers.
