Pune/Pimpri, September 25, 2020: Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has undertaken the work of the Metro project from Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar route. However, due to the lack of land acquisition, this work has not started even after a year. Today, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reviewed the ongoing work of Pune Metro. He instructed the officials to complete the work of Metro on time.

Pawar, who is also the Pune District guardian minister, visited the sites around 6 am and reviewed the work of Metro at Pune Station, Wheel Park Depot (Vanaj), and Agriculture College in Shivajinagar. Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation, gave a detailed presentation on the ongoing work of the Metro.

Pawar has directed that the land acquisition for the Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar corridor should be done immediately.

About 28 hectares of land is to be acquired at various places in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. Seventy percent of the land has already been acquired. However, Tata-Siemens, which has taken the consortium to develop the Pune Metro line, said that the project would not be started up until 90 percent of the land was acquired.

Almost five hectares will have to be acquired for setting up a car shed at Hinjawadi, five hectares for establishing a steelyard at YASHADA on Baner Road and land at Kamgar Putla slum located near Shivajinagar court will be acquired too.

Meanwhile, some government sites will be acquired, as well. In this context, Pawar instructed the concerned departments to give possession of the land immediately.
