‘Bharat Parv’ Showcasing Cultural Performances, Food Festival and Crafts Mela Underway at Red Fort, Delhi till 29th Jan, 2016
Shri Vinod Zutshi, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism inaugurated the “Bharat Parv” event showcasing Cultural Performances, Food Festival and Crafts Mela at Red Fort, New Delhi last evening. Bharat Parv has been organized as a part of the Republic Day Celebrations from 26th to 29th January 2016. Addressing on the occasion, Shri Zutshi said that in the coming years, the “Bharat Parv” event will become an integral part of the Republic Day celebrations. He applauded the participant Artists and Troops for creative performances and hoped that the people will definitely enjoy this purposeful event.
The prime objective of the event is to generate a patriotic mood, promote the rich cultural diversity of the country and to ensure wider participation of the general public. The Ministry of Tourism is the Nodal Ministry for the event, the highlights of which include a display of Republic Day Parade tableaux, performances by the Armed Forces Bands (static and moving), Food Festival, Crafts Mela and Cultural Performances from different regions of the country.
The timing of the Event is from 12.00 Noon to 9.00 PM on the 27th, 28th& 29th January 2016. The Event is open to the public and entry is free. However, identity proof is to be carried. The Cultural Performances include choreographed Folk/ Tribal Dances and Music arranged by the Ministry of Culture through its Zonal Cultural Centres as well as performances by cultural troupes from the different States of the country. The Food Festival has stalls set up by the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) showcasing street food from different States / UTs as well as by State Governments and the Institutes of Hotel Management. The Crafts Mela showcases the handicrafts and handlooms of the country, arranged by the Ministry of Textiles through the Offices of the Development Commissioners of Handlooms and Handicrafts as well as State Governments.
