Pune, May 17, 2020: COVID19 is spreading in Pune like a wildfire. With the number of cases increasing substantially in and around Pune city, most of the containment zones have been thoroughly sealed. Bhawani Peth, which is also one of the hotspots in Pune, has a housing society where 48 residents have been found infected with COVID-19.

There are a total of 584 residents living in the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) building located at Bhavani Peth, near Nishant Theatre. All the members have gone for testing as directed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) authorities. Screening and collecting the swabs have been done, but the results are awaited.

Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, Senior IAS officer Saurabh Rao, PMC Additional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal and PMC health department officials on Saturday visited the society. He said that 48 members have been tested positive, and 453 reports are awaited. Finally, the entire complex has been sealed off, and the suspected patients are being quarantined at a quarantine facility in Aundh. Those whose reports are coming negative, they are being sent home.
