Bhimashankar Darshan Resumes From June 15: Online Registration Now Compulsory
Pune, 15th June 2026: The historic Bhimashankar Temple reopened for devotees on Monday after remaining closed for more than five months due to infrastructure development works undertaken ahead of the 2027 Nashik Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
The Pune district administration announced that only 1,000 devotees will be allowed entry to the temple each day, and obtaining an online pass will be mandatory for darshan.
Devotees must register through the temple management committee’s official website, https://shreebhimashankar.com, to secure a pass. The list of registered devotees will be published on the website.
The district administration stated that the pass system will remain in force until further notice to ensure smooth crowd management and facilitate ongoing development work in the temple premises.
Darshan facilities will be available daily from 7 am to 11 am until June 30, 2026. Devotees who have completed online registration must carry a valid photo identity card while visiting the temple.
Authorities have appealed to devotees and local residents to cooperate with the temple trust, district administration, police, and local authorities to ensure the orderly management of pilgrims.

Officials said a large number of devotees visiting Nashik and Trimbakeshwar during the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela are also expected to travel to Bhimashankar. Based on experiences from the Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025, the administration anticipates a significant increase in footfall at the shrine and is expediting the creation of additional infrastructure and visitor facilities.
The Bhimashankar Devasthan Trust had closed the temple for darshan from January 9, 2026, to facilitate the construction of a new assembly hall and improvement works around the staircase area. The closure period was later extended until May 31.
While the construction of the main assembly hall was initially expected to take nearly a year, the project was completed in just five months with the support of the temple trust, local residents, and devotees, along with round-the-clock efforts by workers.
According to the district administration, the main assembly hall has now been completed, while essential infrastructure related to queue management, sanitation, and pilgrim amenities has also been put in place. Final finishing work is underway, and the remaining construction materials and machinery are being removed to make the area fully accessible to devotees.
