Viman Nagar, 28th May 2025: In a noticeable shift in the retail landscape of Pune, several major brands, including Star Bazaar, Pantaloons, and FirstCry, have recently exited from the popular Phoenix Marketcity Mall in Viman Nagar. The development has sparked curiosity and concern among regular visitors and retail industry watchers alike.

Frequent shoppers have expressed surprise over the sudden closures. “We visited last week and noticed the Star Bazaar section completely shut. It’s quite unexpected because it was always busy,” said Shruti Kulkarni, a resident of Kalyani Nagar.
Retail experts say such movements are not unusual in the post-pandemic business environment, where many brands are reassessing their physical store strategies due to rising operational costs, e-commerce growth, and changing footfall patterns.
