Bihar: Connectivity of towns and cities to increase on 1,505 new routes

Patna, January 01, 2021: Connectivity from smaller cities and towns to other cities, including the capital Patna, will be further strengthened. The Transport Department has earmarked 1,505 new routes for bus operations. The proposal was proposed by the Transport Department for the new routes to which Transport Minister Sheela Kumari has given her consent. Its notification was also released on Thursday. Now, permits will be available for operating private buses on these new routes.

Missed routes will also be added

Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal said that there were already 3,661 route notifications in the state. After the new 1,505 routes, the total number has increased to 5,166. If a route is missed even after scheduling new routes, it will also be added. All the District Transport Officers have been instructed in this regard.

Objection sought by 8 January

Transport Department has also uploaded the list of new routes on the departmental website. An objection or suggestion has been sought in writing by January 8, 2021.

Permit issued online

Permits for the operation of private buses on more than one and a half thousand new routes will also be issued soon. The process of applications for this will also start soon. Currently, all types of permits are being issued online.

All major cities included

Small cities and towns have been added to the new routes, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Purnia, Darbhanga, Raxaul, Gopalganj, Chapra and other major cities have also been added. Some routes are also marked within 25-30 kilometres, so it will help to connect small areas. Apart from this, a permit has also been issued for a 250-300 km long route. The major stops between the routes are also mentioned in detail in the notification.
