Kalyani Nagar, 19th May 2024: Within 15 hours of the accident which resulted in the death of two persons, the accused minor son of builder Vishal Agarwal of Bramha Realty, was granted bail by a holiday court.

Accused’s lawyer Prashant Patil said, “My client was arrested in a matter registered at Yerwada police station. The Honourable Court was kind enough to grant my client bail on certain conditions. We have complete faith in the investigation and shall continue to cooperate with the police agencies. My client is duty-bound to follow the stringent conditions of the Honourable Court. We shall continue to attend the proceedings and wait for the outcome of the investigation.”

Pune Police investigations have revealed that accused, who is a minor i.e. 17 years and eight months old, had attended a party at Cosie bar and then Blak club at Marriott Suites in Koregaon Park. The accident occurred at around 3 am on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of Ashwini Koshta (24), a native of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, and Aneesh Awadhiya (24) from Pali in Madhya Pradesh, near Landmark Society in Kalyani Nagar.

The minor boy was accompanied by two friends and his driver. Despite the presence of his driver, the minor insisted on driving the car himself, leading to the fatal crash. This incident has raised questions about how the minor was allowed entry into the bar.

According to the police, the minor had recently passed his 12th-grade exams from a CBSE board school and decided to celebrate with his friends. They went to the Cosie bar and then Blak club at Marriott Suites in Koregaon Park, but it remains unclear how the minor gained access to the bar.

The minor’s father had recently purchased a brand new Porsche car, which had not yet been registered with the RTO and was thus without a license plate. The minor took this car to the bar and decided to drive it back home after the party. While driving recklessly, he lost control of the vehicle near Landmark Gardens Society on Kalyaninagar – Airport Road and collided with the motorcycle of Awadhiya and Ashwini.

A case has been registered against the minor under Sections 279, 304(a), 337, 338, and 427 of the IPC, and Sections 184 and 119/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Aqib Ramzan Mulla, a 24-year-old resident of Chandannagar and a native of Solapur, filed the complaint. Assistant Inspector Vishwanath Todkari is leading the investigation.
