New Delhi, 6th December 2024: The BJP has found its counter to the Congress protests over the Adani issue by leveraging reports from the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). The ruling party and government have decided to use these reports to target Congress in the remaining sessions of Parliament.

On Thursday, the BJP held a press conference and raised the OCCRP issue in both Houses of Parliament. The party’s strong criticism of Rahul Gandhi, calling him a “traitor” and “anti-national,” marked one of its harshest attacks on the new Leader of the Opposition. Congress has strongly condemned these remarks.

Sources indicate that both the Adani controversy and the OCCRP reports may be brought up during the upcoming debate on the Constitution in the Lok Sabha next week. Although the Adani issue may not be directly related to a constitutional debate, BJP leaders suggest they will use the OCCRP reports to counter Congress if protests continue. Congress, led by Gandhi, has been holding demonstrations outside Parliament against the Adani issue.

The BJP claims that the OCCRP, backed by a covert network, has focused its attention on India, with multiple reports targeting the country. The BJP argues that the Congress has exploited these reports, including unverified claims like the Pegasus issue, which was dismissed by the Supreme Court, to advance its political agenda.

The BJP further accuses the Congress and its allies in the INDIA bloc of using sensationalized OCCRP reports to undermine India’s growth, without considering the potential damage caused by compromised agencies. Recently, a French publication, Mediapart, revealed that OCCRP is funded by the US government and organizations connected to George Soros, further fueling the controversy.
