BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole Calls for Regular Audits of School Transport Vehicles in Pune

Pune/Nagpur, 18th December 2024: Recent incidents involving school transportation vans in Pune District have raised concerns. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole recently addressed this issue during the Winter Session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in Nagpur. He called for regular audits of the vehicles transporting school students.
Citing the recent fire incident involving a school bus in Pune’s Kharadi, MLA Shirole emphasised the importance of student safety. “The safety of students in many schools in Pune has become a serious issue. More than eight thousand vehicles transport school students in Pune, and it is necessary to conduct regular audits of these vehicles,” Shirole said. He also stressed the need for training by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) on how to handle fires or accidents in such vehicles.
In the event of a fire on a bus or van, Shirole highlighted the need for regular checks of fire prevention measures to ensure they are in place. He also pointed out the importance of training drivers and staff on how to use fire prevention systems and safely evacuate students.
