Pune: PMC’s Deep Cleaning Drive in Hadapsar Mundhwa Yields Rs 22,300 in Fines, 4 Tonnes of Waste Removed

Pune, 18th December 2024: Under the deep cleaning drive organised by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the drive was conducted today in the Hadapsar Mundhwa Ward Office area starting from 10:30 AM. Multiple departments collaborated to thoroughly clean the area. The areas cleaned included Magarpatta Chowk to Ravi Darshan Society and from Ravi Darshan Society to Vaibhav Chitramandir Chowk.
The deep cleaning drive was attended by Assistant Municipal Commissioner Ravi Khandare, Senior Health Inspectors Shirpad Naik and Bharati Tilekar, Junior Engineers (Civil) Sonwalkar and Waskar, Junior Engineer (Electrical) Dhabewar, Encroachment Inspector Londhe, Skysign and License Inspector Kakade, among others.
During the drive, the Solid Waste Management Department of PMC focused on cleaning the main roads. Soil and dust around the dividers were cleared, posters were removed, improperly placed banners were taken down, and areas beneath and above the flyover were cleaned. Penal actions were taken against hawkers and shopkeepers spreading dirt. A total of Rs. 22,300 in fines was collected in 45 cases, along with the collection of 1.3 tonnes of wet garbage and 2.7 tonnes of dry garbage.
The Electrical Department cleaned and maintained wires and street light poles. The Building Development Department cleaned and managed chambers. The Encroachment Department removed illegal encroachments, including sheds and unattended vehicles. The Skysign and License Department took action against hoardings and banners. With collaboration from multiple other departments, the deep cleaning drive was completed.
