Pune, 9th November 2021: After the central government reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel, many states gave relief to the citizens by reducing the Value Added Tax (VAT).

BJP city president Jagdish Mulik said, “Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which came to power in Maharashtra by betraying the people only to do ‘hafta vasuli’ (collecting protection money), was not interested in the issues of the general public.”

The BJP today staged a protest in the Mahatma Phule Mandai area demanding reduction of VAT on petrol and diesel, acceptance of demands of State Transport workers, and control of chaos in health department recruitment exams.

Mulik further said that the MVA government is constantly pointing fingers at the Center to hide its failures. The real face of the state government has been exposed to the people after the central government reduced fuel prices.

“Reducing VAT on fuel will reduce the prices of all commodities. But the priorities of the state government are a collection of ‘hafta’, corruption in transfers, the backing of criminal tendencies and, creating panic among the people”, he added.

BJP General Secretary Ganesh Ghosh, Rajesh Yenpure, Datta Khade, Sandeep Lonakar, Vice President Swarada Bapat, Women President Archana Patil, Pramod Kondhare, Ravindra Salegaonkar, Dhananjay Jadhav, and other city office bearers, corporators, and activists participated in the agitation.
