Blinkit Delivery Riders in Pune Caught Flouting Traffic Rules Amid 10-Minute Rush

Pune, 26th April 2025: As the race for ultra-fast deliveries intensifies, concerns are mounting over the rising number of traffic violations committed by quick commerce delivery personnel in Pune. From speeding and riding without helmets to driving on the wrong side of the road and using bikes without number plates, delivery riders are frequently seen putting both themselves and others at risk on city streets.

A recent video posted by a concerned citizen on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has reignited the debate. The clip showed multiple Blinkit riders driving against traffic near a residential area in an apparent rush to meet delivery deadlines.

Tagging the company and local authorities, the user questioned the logic of 10-minute deliveries, asking, “Isn’t a one-hour delivery safer if it helps avoid chaos on the roads?”

He further commented, “This isn’t just about Blinkit. Delivery boys from all platforms are seen bending traffic rules daily. It’s a systemic issue caused by unrealistic delivery targets.”

In a follow-up post, the same user shared an image captured near Magarpatta Road. It showed a Blinkit rider allegedly violating three rules simultaneously—riding without a helmet, lacking a number plate, and driving on the wrong side. “This was just one snapshot from my commute. Imagine how many such violations occur in a single day across Pune,” he wrote.

The viral posts triggered widespread concern among social media users, many of whom echoed calls for stricter regulation of delivery timelines in the interest of public safety.

Responding to the criticism, Blinkit issued a statement clarifying its position: “We take road safety seriously and do not encourage any form of traffic violation. We are looking into the matter and regret the inconvenience caused.”

Traffic officials in Pune have acknowledged the issue and are reportedly increasing monitoring of delivery riders. An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “We are aware that pressure to meet short delivery windows often leads to reckless behavior. We will be intensifying enforcement and may also engage with companies to address the root cause.”

With the city witnessing a surge in quick-commerce services, citizens and authorities alike are now calling for a balance between convenience and safety.
