Pune, 30th May 2026: A bomb scare triggered security checks and delayed a Pune-Guwahati IndiGo flight at Pune International Airport on Friday after a handwritten note carrying the word “bomb” was found inside the aircraft washroom.

Airport authorities, airline staff and security agencies were immediately alerted, following which the aircraft underwent a thorough inspection. No suspicious object or explosive material was found, and the threat was later declared a hoax.

The incident led to a delay of nearly two hours in the flight’s departure, police said.

Following the scare, the Vimantal Police Station registered an FIR against an unidentified person for allegedly creating a false bomb threat.

Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav said an unidentified individual appeared to have deliberately left the message, triggering emergency security protocols. “An offence has been registered against an unknown person. This is the third such incident reported at the airport in the last few months, and an investigation is underway,” he said.

Police said the note was discovered before take-off, prompting security personnel to conduct a comprehensive search of the aircraft. After the checks confirmed there was no threat, the flight was cleared for departure.

The incident is the latest in a series of similar hoax bomb scares at Pune airport. In March, the word “bomb” was found scribbled inside an IndiGo aircraft scheduled to operate a Pune-Amritsar flight. That incident led to the evacuation of passengers and an extensive security sweep, which also yielded no suspicious findings. The flight was delayed by several hours, and a case was subsequently registered by the police.
