Boost for Wagholi’s Civic Infrastructure: Pune Allocates Rs 40 Crore in PMC Budget

Pune, 17th August 2023: Wagholi, a burgeoning locality in Pune, is set to receive a substantial boost to its civic infrastructure as the Pune District Minister, Chandrakant Patil, has directed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to allocate ₹40 crore in the budget. This move aims to address pressing civic issues that have been plaguing the area’s residents.

The allocated funds are earmarked for tackling a range of challenges including water supply, drainage, street lighting, and traffic management. These issues have been a source of inconvenience for Wagholi’s residents, prompting this proactive response from the authorities.

The announcement came about in a recent review meeting attended by key stakeholders including PMC officials, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) representatives, traffic police, and local community leaders. Minister Patil, recognizing the gravity of the challenges, emphasized the urgency of prioritizing work on street lighting. He further called upon senior traffic police officers to personally assess the situation on the ground in Wagholi, identifying traffic bottlenecks and promptly addressing road-related concerns.

Despite its merger with PMC, Wagholi has been grappling with a range of challenges due to its rapid growth. In light of these persistent issues, Minister Patil’s decision to allocate a significant budget has been warmly welcomed by the community.

The review meeting also shed light on the inadequate staffing at the local crematorium, prompting Minister Patil to direct the civic administration to allocate additional personnel to ensure uninterrupted essential services.

Sandip Satav, who participated in the meeting, expressed gratitude on behalf of the residents for Minister Patil’s proactive approach. He underlined that while Wagholi has become a part of PMC, it still faces multifaceted challenges that necessitate dedicated attention from various administrative departments. Minister Patil’s unwavering commitment to addressing these concerns has garnered praise from local leaders and the entire community.
