Bopodi Land Dispute Intensifies: Agriculture College Pune Moves High Court, SDO Hearing Today
Pune, 14th November 2025: The long-running land dispute in Bopodi has escalated further, with the Agricultural College approaching the Bombay High Court seeking an appeal against the controversial order issued earlier by suspended Tehsildar Suryakant Yewale.
At the same time, a crucial hearing before the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) will take place on Friday to review and cancel Yewale’s order. Notices for this hearing have been issued to the Agricultural College, Hemant Gawande, and the Vidhvans family, whose property demolition is linked to the case.
Yewale, currently suspended, faces a criminal case along with six others in connection with the alleged Bopodi land fraud. He was suspended on charges of misconduct and irregularities after district officials found serious procedural lapses in his order related to the disputed land.
Sub-Divisional Officer Sunil Joshi had earlier sought a review of Yewale’s decision. His request was examined by Additional District Collector Satish Raut, who approved the initiation of cancellation proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Agricultural College maintains that the disputed land has been in its possession for several years and has challenged the earlier order before the High Court. The institution had also submitted a detailed complaint to the district administration, prompting District Collector Jitendra Dudi to conduct an inquiry and forward a comprehensive report to the state government.
