Pune, 23 April 2021: A week after a 57-year-old Brigadier rank officer died by suicide at Pune railway station, the Government Railway Police (GRP) has booked four serving Army officers including a woman for the abetment of suicide. The FIR has been registered based on a complaint from the deceased’s son.

The deceased Brig Anant Naik (57), a native of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, was posted as head of the administration department at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Wanowrie.

On April 18, he came under wheels of the Udyan Express at Pune railway station.

Now based on a complaint from his son, GRP Pune has registered the case for abetment of suicide against four serving Army officers including a woman Major rank officer, one Lt Colonel, one Brigadier and one male Major rank officer. The lady officer had lodged a complaint against Brig Naik and an enquiry was going on.

According to GRP, a suicide note was found at the Brig Naik’s house wherein he has blamed these four officers of tarnishing his image with false complaint and enquiry.

“They harassed my father and left him with no choice but to die by suicide”, the complainant told police.
