Pune, 27th May 2025: Pune Police have arrested the son of a builder for allegedly extorting Rs 47 lakh from his own father’s company and threatening a former president of the Pune Bar Association. The accused, identified as Dheeraj Aragade, a resident of Khadki, was produced in court and has been remanded to three days of police custody.
The complaint was filed by Anil Dilip Aragade (37) at Shivajinagar Police Station. A case has been registered against the accused under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 308 (extortion), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 351 (criminal intimidation).
According to police reports, the accused extorted Rs 46.93 lakh from the complainant, who is also the accountant of the company previously managed by Dheeraj’s father, Dinesh Chandra alias Balasaheb Aragade. Balasaheb was under judicial custody at Yerawada Central Jail from April 2024 to March 2025 in connection with multiple cases and later he was granted bail by the high court. Before going to jail, he had handed over the company’s control to the complainant, explicitly instructing that no funds be disbursed without his approval.
Despite this, Dheeraj allegedly threatened to kill the complainant and his partner if the money was not paid. Later, he also allegedly threatened Advocate Rajendra Daundkar, former president of the Pune Bar Association. Daundkar stated, “He called me via WhatsApp on May 13 and threatened to kill me and my family if I did not pay.”
Following these complaints, Shivajinagar Police arrested the accused and produced him in court, where Advocate Priyanka Vengurlekar represented the prosecution.
