Cancer treatment center to be opened at JJ Hospital in Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 4, 2020: In view of the requirement for treatment of cancer patients in Mumbai in coming days, a cancer treatment center will set up at J J Hospital in Mumbai, said Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh in the Legislative Council today.

He was replying to a calling attention motion raised by Jogendra Kawade regarding facilities in J J Hospital. J J Hospital will be completing 150 years soon and various programs are being organized to commemorate this event. During this period a cancer treatment center will also be set up in the J J Hospital. Heart surgery department is working in the Hospital and so far, no heart operation is stopped in this Hospital. Deshmukh said that service to patients is continuously going on and no operation is stopped for the want of medicine supply.

Earlier there was treatment scheme for the legislative assembly members but that scheme is presently suspended. However, a policy decision will be taken to provide medical facility not only to the members of legislative assembly and council but also for the members of the Loksabha and Rajyasabha, Deshmukh said replying to a supplementary on this calling attention motion.

Vikram Kale, Bhai Girkar, Amarnath Rajurkar, Anantrao Gadgil, Dr Parinay Fuke participated in the discussion on this motion.
