CBI Arrests Two Railway Officials in Separate Cases of Bribery

Mumbai/Mysore, August 27, 2020: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Office Superintendent, working in the office of Senior DPO, South Western Railway, Mysore Division for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant’s relative.

A case was registered u/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) on a complaint against Srikanth L K, Office Superintendent on the allegations of demanding illegal gratification of Rs 1,00,000 from the complainant for his job on compassionate appointment in Railways. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 as the first instalment from the relative of the complainant. Searches are being conducted today at the residential & official premises of the accused at Mysore.

In another case, CBI has arrested Anand Kumar Singh, a Clerk working in the Office of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, CSMT, Mumbai for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 17,000 from the complainant.

CBI registered a case u/s 7 of P.C. Act, 1988 ( as amended in 2018) on a complaint against the said Clerk on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs 17,000 for processing the pension papers of the complainant and release his retirement benefits. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.17,000 from the complainant. Searches are being conducted at the premises of accused.

Both the arrested accused will be produced before the Competent Court.
