CBSE has become the first education board in the country today to partner with the Ministry of External Affairs in a landmark e-initiative which will facilitate online attestation of academic documents of Indian students aspiring to go aboard for higher education or employment.

Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in the gracious presence of Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Law and Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Minister of HRD Prakash Javadekar launched the e-sanad software.

R.K. Chaturvedi, IAS, Chairman CBSE, presented CBSE Parinam Manjusha – the Digital repository of academic records of CBSE affiliated students which has been integrated with e-sanad software of MEA to provide hassle free access of attested certificates and marksheets of students of CBSE affiliated schools to universities and prospective employers. The academic records can be stored, accessed and updated anytime anywhere. Employers and educational institutions can use this repository to verify academic records of CBSE students online. The digital academic certificates from this repository are also available to students through Digi Locker said the Chairman. At present almost 25 Lakh Class X and XII digitally signed academic records such as mark sheets, pass certificates, migration certificates of 2014, 2015 and 2016 are available on a nominal payment of `100/- through payment gateway. Legacy data will also be added gradually. Parinam Manjusha also helps the verifiers who can register for free. 232 verifiers have made use of this facility so far.

The Ministry of External Affairs is the nodal authority for attestation/apostille of the documents including mark sheets, degrees and other documents for Indian students. The MEA receives a number of requests for attestation of documents issued by CBSE and various other boards and universities. Under the current process such documents are required to be verified by education departments of the state governments concerned and then attested/apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs. For this purpose, the students are required to visit various offices for which they face a number of problems. e-sanad will provide ‘apostilled’ printed on the digitally signed certificate and given to the consumer.

Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar informed that beginning with CBSE today, the records of 48 Boards and 800 Universities will be made available electronically through the National Academic Repository possibly in the next two years.

Minister of IT Ravi Shankar Prasad appreciated the effort of MEA, HRD and CBSE and said that e-sanad software will help in strengthening the ongoing mission to make India fully digital with the intent of making services simple, inclusive, developmental and affordable.

Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj praised the effort of the Ministry of HRD, Ministry of IT and Chairman CBSE in promptly coming forward for this useful service for citizens which was an urgent need of the day.
