New Delhi, 20th October 2023: In a welcome development for female students who were initially unable to submit applications for the CBSE’s single girl child scholarship, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced an extension of the application deadline. This opportunity is aimed at girl students studying in class 2023 or class 24 in affiliated schools across the country during the academic year 11-12. According to a public notice issued by the board on Friday, 20 October 2023, the deadline for submitting applications for this scholarship scheme has been prolonged, and interested students can now apply until 31 October. It’s noteworthy that the original application deadline had passed on 18 October, with the application process commencing in September.

The CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship provides financial support of Rs 500 per month to eligible female students for two years. To be eligible, applicants must have passed the Secondary (Class 10) examination with a minimum of 60 percent marks and must currently be enrolled in Class 11. Additionally, the monthly tuition fee for the student should not exceed Rs 1500 per month.

For students in Class 12 who were recipients of this scholarship in Class 11, there is also an option for renewal, necessitating the submission of a renewal application. The deadline for such renewals has also been extended to 31 October, 2023.

To apply for the single girl child scholarship, interested candidates can access the application link in the ‘Latest@CBSE’ section on the official CBSE website (cbse.gov.in) homepage or visit the application portal at cbseit.in.

This extension of the application deadline provides a valuable opportunity for eligible female students to secure financial assistance for their education. The CBSE Scholarship initiative is an important step in supporting and encouraging the education of single girl children, and these additional days for applications offer renewed hope for those who may have missed the previous deadline.
