Narhe, 13th November 2025: A horrific road accident at Navale Bridge in Narhe, Pune, claimed seven lives and left more than 15 others injured on Thursday evening. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when a container truck, a smaller truck, and a car collided on the busy Satara Road stretch leading towards Mumbai.

According to preliminary reports, the driver of a container truck travelling from Satara to Mumbai reportedly lost control of his vehicle due to brake failure near Selfie Point. The out-of-control container rammed into a line of vehicles, triggering a series of collisions involving nearly a dozen cars and trucks. Moments later, the vehicles caught fire, engulfing the entire stretch in flames.

Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly, trapping several passengers inside their vehicles. “The flames were intense, and no one could approach the vehicles to help. The fire brigade arrived within minutes, but by then, the occupants were already burnt,” said a local resident.

The occupants of the car were travelling in a four-wheeler returning home after visiting the Narayanpur temple. The driver and cleaner of the container truck also lost their lives in the blaze.

Names of the deceased in the car:
1. Mokshita (age 3)
2. Swati Navalkar
3. Shanta Dabhade (mother of Swati Navalkar)
4. Dattatreya Dabhade (father)
5. Dhananjay Koli (driver)

Fire brigade teams from Sinhagad, Navale, Katraj, and Erandwane stations rushed to the site with eight fire engines, assisted by rescue vans from the PMRDA and the fire headquarters. Under the supervision of Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode, four officers and 40 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and recover bodies trapped in the wreckage.

Traffic on the Mumbai-bound lane was brought to a halt as rescue operations continued late into the evening. Long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the bridge, with police diverting traffic to alternate routes.

Sinhagad Road Police and Pune Traffic Police coordinated the rescue and relief efforts, with local residents joining in to help transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

Police officials confirmed that at least ten people suffered serious injuries and were admitted to nearby medical facilities.

This tragic incident has once again highlighted the recurring safety concerns on Navale Bridge, which has witnessed several major accidents in recent years, including a similar fire-related crash in February 2024.
