India, February 16, 2021: The central government on Monday announced a massive change in the country’s mapping policy, stating that it would benefit Indian companies. The policy changes have been made keeping in mind the Government’s ‘Atmanirbhar India’ campaign. Announcing this on Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that policy change is a major step in the government’s vision to make India self-reliant.

“Our government has taken a decision, which will give impetus to Digital India. Liberalizing policies governing the acquisition and production of geospatial data is a major step in our vision for self-reliant India,” he said.

The Prime Minister further said in the tweet, “This reform will unlock opportunities in our country’s start-ups, private sector, public sector, and research institutes to drive innovations and build scalable solutions. It will generate employment and economic growth will speed up. “
