Central Government To Expand PLI Scheme In Eight More Areas

New Delhi, 14th October 2022: In view of the success of the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI), the government is preparing to expand it in seven to eight more areas. Under this, some new categories like furniture and toys will also be included.

 

According to the government, this can be helpful in economic growth.

 

Earlier, under PLI, the government announced 14 schemes. These schemes are expected to generate a turnover of over $500 billion in around five years.

 

According to reports, the segments covered in the new PLI schemes will include textiles, electronic equipment, furniture, toys and leather. An incentive of more than ten thousand crore rupees might be provided by the government.

 

The most direct employment is provided in the manufacturing sector. Whereas the share of this sector in the country’s GDP is currently close to 17 percent. The government aims to increase the contribution to GDP to 25 percent.

 

According to the government, by increasing the sectors of the PLI scheme, employment opportunities and economy will get a boost.
