Central Railway Mumbai Division Transports Pickup vehicles from Kalamboli to Benapole, Bangladesh

Mumbai, 25 October, 2020: Central Railway has set-up Business Development Units (BDU) at Zonal & Divisional level recently. These Business Development Units aggressively marketing to boost the freight and parcel loading of Railways. The BDU takes into consideration new proposals, schemes and suggestions submitted by the different freight aggregators, new customers, trade bodies and logistics companies. These initiatives by the BDUs yielded many new traffic and bridged a bond with trade and industry for new business.
The Kalamboli station of Mumbai Division transported for the first time one New Modified Goods (NMG) rake of 23 wagons transported 87 Mahindra Bolero pick-up vans to Benapole, Bangladesh fetching the revenue of Rs. 21.29 lakhs. Central Railway has set up a siding at Kalamboli exclusively for transportation of automobile cars. These Mahindra Bolero pick-up vans were loaded by National Carrier Corporation a logistic partner for Railways and Mahindra & Mahindra company.
The Automobile industry attracted by Railways for its quick and economic transportation of their goods. Similar facilities were also provided for automobile transportation at Chinchwad station on Pune Division, Nashik station on Bhusaval Division, Butibori and Ajni stations on Nagpur Division and Bale station on Solapur division.
