Central Railway RPF Takes Strong Action: Thousands of Cases Registered, Resulting in Fines Exceeding Rs. 21 Lakhs

Pune, 11th June 2023: In a bid to maintain order and ensure passenger safety, the Central Railway RPF (Railway Protection Force) has launched a rigorous campaign against various offenses on their trains. Cases related to unreasonable Alarm Chain Pulling, Illegal ticketing, unauthorized hawking, and carrying liquor and tobacco products have been registered, leading to strict action being taken along with the imposition of penalties.

 

 

During the month of May 2023, the Central Railway RPF recorded a total of 941 incidents of unauthorized Alarm Chain Pulling, categorizing them under Section 141 of the Indian Railway Act. As a result, 711 individuals were arrested, and a substantial penalty of Rs.2,71,205/- was collected.

 

Furthermore, 49 cases of illegal ticketing were registered under Section 143 of the Indian Railway Act, leading to the prosecution of 52 touts involved in such activities.

 

The unauthorized hawking menace also faced a crackdown, with a staggering 2741 cases being recorded under Section 144(1) of the Indian Railway Act. The Central Railway RPF apprehended 2729 unauthorized hawkers, and a significant amount of Rs.17,27,580/- was collected as penalty.

 

In a bid to curb the presence of illegal substances, the authorities seized 363 bottles of illegal liquor, amounting to Rs.1,19,680/-. Additionally, four individuals were arrested in connection with this offense. Furthermore, 14 packets of illegal tobacco products, weighing approximately 64 kgs and valued at Rs.84,000/-, were confiscated.

 

The Central Railway urges passengers to adhere to certain guidelines in order to avoid inconveniences and ensure a safe and dignified travel experience. Passengers are urged to refrain from unnecessary or frivolous Alarm Chain Pulling, avoid purchasing tickets from unauthorized agents or touts, discourage unauthorized hawking, and abstain from carrying liquor or banned tobacco products while traveling. The railway authorities also emphasize the importance of carrying valid tickets and traveling with dignity.
